After-sales support for the Nokia devices(specialy lumias) after the MS/Nokia deal

Hi Guys,

How was after-sales support for the Nokia devices(specialy lumias) after the MS/Nokia acquisition deal?

I reside outside US and I was about to purchase the Lumia 1520 this is something that little bothers me now as what if I only found my device faulty after 3 or 6 months.

The acquisition isn't complete and integration of Nokia's handset division is still far away. When it happens we'll all know.

I don't think this is anything to worry about.

First off, things with the acquisition are still in early stages. Nokia is still operating as normal and it's likely to continue that way for a while. MS will be responsible for all warranty of Nokia products and I don't see this being a bad thing.

Another question. Will the previous handsets with Nokia tag be considered Microsoft product? Will they get software updates what the Microsoft Lumia handsets will get after the acquisition?

Within Europe, at least, Nokia is obligated to respect the 2 years of legal warranty that European Union law imposes upon all devices (albeit Apple's screams and cries). So if you live in Europe, you can still demand Nokia to repair or exchange your device within the warranty.
If you live outside Europe, check the terms and conditions of your purchase, but it's likely that Nokia will still be responsible.

NO CURRENT DEVICES will start to be considered "Microsoft" products. Nokia devices are Nokia. Microsoft devices will be those produced by Microsoft. So Nokia will still be responsible for their devices and Microsoft will be responsible for Microsoft devices and OS problems.

Nokia will continue to be responsible for their devices in areas that require this by way of law.

However, since Microsoft acquired the D&S division, something tells me they've also acquired Nokia Care.
