I have first windows phone a couple of months back and after using it for a week or so I was pretty sure had found the way forward. Now after a couple of months I am certain of it. I have now sold my Sony Xperia Z1 changed my Gmail to Outlook and next is to do is the last bit of change.

I have a 925 at the minute and I also have a Nexus 7 2013 for (out & about) web browsing but I also have a 2520 for use at home. I was thinking of dumping the Nexus and getting a 1520 for day to day work and so on and keeping the 925 for going out socialising and so on, basically for times I don't need to do a lot on the web.

Now I can get between 12 and 14 hours screen on time from the Nexus. I don't expect to get near that much from a 1520 but around what could I expect from it. I know it's hard to tell with Windows because of the lack of measurements.

I would not be using navigation or games on it so it would just be checking emails and internet.

    Thanks in advance.

I had a Lumia 920 and nexus 7 but dumped both of them for the 1520 and 2520. if you need android then stick to what you got, but I think the 1520 would be a good fit, I found it snappier than the nexus 7 and worth to trade up towards.

Do you not think the 1520 is too big for every day use. I think it would be fine for during the day when I have a jacket on but weekend and nights I would only have a shirt on.

Wait for the fix of the screen sensitivity issue. Apparently software problem so should be fixed soon. If software does not fix it it means hardware and then DO NOT get 1520, as it can be very annoying. So wait for another week or two to see if the problem can be fixed with the software. If yes, them Lumia 1520 will be a wonderful phone. Size is perfect, screen is great. You will love it.

I know what you mean about the touch problem as I have a Nexus 7 2013 and boy that thing is bad, and getting worse day by day to the point that I have to lock and unlock the thing about 30 times a day as it's the only way to sort out the problem with it.

To be fair I think I could live with it for a bit until Nokia fix it. My friend has one and his isn't too bad plus I tend to use both hands when using the phone which I think, might help because I tend to do long swipes.

Its not too big for everyday use but on occasion you will need to use two hands for some actions. Fits in my pants pocket and jacket pockets fine. If you wear skinny jeans, you may have an issue.

I haven't worn skinny jeans since the 90's so I should be ok on that front. Plus I do use both hands a lot of the time especially when I'm texting or using to browse the web and so on.

The battery is the thing that I'm worried about the most.

I have a 1520 and because I'm a gym teacher and wear sweatpants daily I don't keep it on me. I'm paranoid about it falling out of my sweats. But away from work I keep it in my pocket. Regular fitting jeans and cargo pants. Be prepared for the critics that's say its too big for a daily driver.

nope.. I am a heavy user. The Lumia 1520 is the best in power even if I compared it with previous phones I had, as follows:
    - z ultra (with stamina mode)
    - note 3
    - G2
    - Note 2
    - Lumia 1520
    - Iphone 5
    - Blackberry bold 9700.

The one that come close to the battery life is the 9700. The rest is not even close. Just to clarify, I do my diligence in turning crap off on my previous phones, in my lumia 1520, I don't even bother to do anything. the other words, I dont even try to do those and it still last me more than a day. So.. and yes, Lumia 920 is weak in battery life.

as far as size, it's definitely a preference. I used note 3, note 2, even the z ultra. I find out that the perfect size for me is 5.2-5.7 inch. The lumia is a tad too big. but, eventually I got used to it. The only complain I have is the weight. it's near the z ultra that has .44" more screen.

The blessed part is, I found this gem from someone in craigslist. Brand new and unlocked with yellow color matte RM-940 for only $425. :D

    Thanks for the feedback.

Having had the note 2 and note 3 I know what the battery is like on them and if it's better than the two of them then I know I'll be OK.

Now what colour to get, it's between black and red I think.

It's more the battery performance that I was concerned about. I will have my 925 for weekends. I always have two phones, one work and one private.

I had the phone for about a week. Battery life is out of the world. I am getting "atleast" a day of heavy usage. By heavy I mean 4-5 hours of browsing, 1-2 hours of gaming, 2-3 hours of texting/whatsapp and couple of hours of music. (may be half hr of here drive too sometimes). Atleast 20 apps having push notifications, tons of apps pinned to screen with background tasks on. On 4g most of the day and wifi later in evening.
Standby battery drain is near 0-1% per hour. :) which means it only drains battery when you use it.
It is taking 2 1/2 to fully charge from 0-100 if that matters to you. (It does to me. Just use the original charger.)

That's compared to other phones I had in the past which struggled to reach end of day and I had to charge in middle.

    Focus --> Galaxy s3 --> 920 --> Iphone 5 --> 520 --> 1520

That's as much as I would use it on the heaviest of days. I don't play games or use navigation and the only thing running in the background would be what's app, weather, news, F1 app and 2 emails one syncing every 30 minutes and the other as it arrives.

I would go with Matte one. glossy attracts fingerprint. My color preference would be yellow>black>red>white. I personally found that white is just too plain..

I have a red (glossy) 2520 and that was a pig for fingerprints until I polished and sealed it with what I use on my car. No more fingerprints.

White is also my least favourite and yellow is not far in front of it. The only phone I have ever liked in white was the 925 and that has white on the back only.

I think I'm going to get red because my friend (1 of 7 people I have converted to Windows since I got mine) has a red one and plus as I have a red 2520

If I change my mind I can always plastidip it black. The plastidip is the same colour and texture as the black matt.

I just had three major needs when I moved from my Galaxy S3: Must be a Windows phone, must have good battery life, and must support SD cards. I did actually love my temporary 520, which met all of the criteria, but the camera and screen was obviously a let down compared to the S3. If the 1020 had an SD card slot, that would have been a winner.

The size of the 1520 has put all of my friends off, but I love it and won't be convinced otherwise. It really is the best phone I've ever owned, and I've had it a week!

The battery is 3500MAh rated and battery use depends alot on your daily use. For example, on my phone I dont really play games that often but I do use it a lot (i mean ALOT) for podcast, streaming music, office mobile, audiobooks (saved locally), IE and email. My outlook settings are "recive as arrive" which constantly checks(network intensive and battery taxing) for emails as they come in and on a daily basis i get between 100-150 emails on average. Depending on my use I can go a full day without charging or sometimes two days, it really depends on what you do with your phone.

You know I was thoroughly concerned about the size but once you get adjusted, it would be really, really hard to go back to a 4.3in screen.

I wouldn't be using it that much I don't think so I'm pretty sure I will be more than ok with it.

As for size the biggest phone I've had was my galaxy notes and I was fine with them. I also tried the Xperia Z1 ultra before I got my Z1 and thought that it was just too big. I'm going to be using my 925 as well with a view to maybe using the 1520 full time as I don't really need a private number any more.

Yeah the Z1 is too big IMO, I mean if a phone includes a bluetooth due to its size then its too big.

the problem with the z1 ultra is the bezels are huge which is what contributes to the oversize.

Just a quick update to this thread, I ended up getting a 1520 in black 2 days ago and getting used to it still but I was surprised how quickly I'm getting used to the size of it. My 925 looks so small now.

I do find it a bit slippery but my biggest surprise was the screen. On my 925 when I have the tiles set to cyan they are the same colour as the cyan touch 2 cover on my Surface RT but on the 1520 they are a lot lighter in shade, to the point that it doesn't even look like the colour cyan.

Both phones have the same settings on them screen wise and yes I know that the screens are different but surely there shouldn't be such a difference in the colours.

On a plus point the battery is dam amazing on it. I have had the touch problems a couple of times but nothing that would put me off of the phone.
