cant edit excel documents

I just purchased the 1520 today. I've got pretty much everything set up and running good. The only problem Im running into right now is I can't edit any of the excel documents I email back to my to myself after I got this phone. The phone will only let me view them, that's it. Anyone have any idea what im doing wrong, or not doing? I don't know if this matters but I didn't set up the office 365 account thing. Before today Ive always edited the excel docs I had/needed on my galaxy tablet with no problem. I email said docs from the galaxy tab to this phone. I can't believe that would make a difference.

It's may be because your documents are Excel 2003-2007. I had to convert all of them to .xlsx files for them to work properly. Hope that helps

Funny, I had to convert them to .xls for it to work. I could open the .xlsx, but not edit it.

How do I do that?

Download it on computer, open it up and use <Save As>

I changed the format from .xls to .xlsx and now I can edit on my phone.

does the file have macros? If yes, you can't edit it.

Not that well versed in Excel. It does have formulas, but that is about it.

if its just formulas then you should be able to edit it. I do it quite often. If you have re-checked that the permissions for the files are fine, then I don't know what else could be the problem. Sorry.
