You will love it! It's like jumping from VHS to blu ray :-)

No sign of movement from my phone after arriving in Mesquite (near Dallas) yesterday morning at 5am. Grrr. I guess it's tomorrow after all. I said I was gong to have bad karma from canceling that B&H order and I was right. :-( But once I have it in my hands tomorrow, all will be forgotten.

Nave question, but I suspect some of the participants in this thread are on T-Mobile and perhaps have experience with this.

When the Lumina 1520.3 arrives, do I just remove the micro SIM card from my Lumina 710, cut it down to nano size (I ordered a SIM cutter), and install it into the Lumina 1520? Will my phone number and plan be the same except they will apply to the new phone? Or do I need to contact T-Mobile to transfer my plan and phone number?

    Thanks in advance!

Switching your SIM after cutting it will be all you have to do. That's the benefit of unlocked phones. Switch and go.

Actually if you were switching to a locked phone, as long as it was the same company, it would be the same thing. Switch and go.

It's very simple. Just cut and insert into your new phone.

I got the same error message! WTF! I chatted with them online and I am going to go pick it up at the warehouse.

I had to leave the house for 15 minutes last night and OF COURSE, that would happen to be the time they tried to deliver. Didn't know they were going to require a signature, so they didn't leave it.

You guys should sign up for UPS my choice, allows you to set the delivery to be held at the UPS depot for pickup on your delivery day.

Quick question guys. So since this is not an official phone from T-mobile i am guessing t-mobile cant push out the 8.1 update when its released. How can i go about getting the update? also i will be installing the dev preview on this device;does that make a difference in any way?

I just went to an at&t store at the local mall and asked for an updated sim for my new phone, told her that i didn't realize the sim card needed to be smaller and she did the activation right there. No charge, and it took 15 mins.

I was just about to say this too. It's a free service and you would have caught that a signature is required before it arrived at your house. You could also divert shipment to a neighbor for them to sign (like I did).

Yeah ignore carrier updates with this phone. It isn't branded. You'll get updates when your region gets them.

In the past with Nokia, the schedule was posted on their website. For example North America:

Funny! I am not worried though.

So, what is hands down the best case for this bad boy?

No such animal...it depends on what you need/expect in a case. My teenager's phones need to be encased in a tank-like structure. I just want minimal protection. I went with the NGP case as well.

I'm probably going to order that case tonight. I already have the pudding case but a few people posted reviews for the Incipio and stated they did their own accidental drop test and the phone survived, that was all I needed to hear. I finally have my phone up and running after making another trip to AT&T because the rep gave me a micro sim card. So far everything is running perfect and I have a strong LTE signal. I wont have real time to play with it unfortunately until after work.....the yellow looks really good.

IMO, if anything is "hands down" worthy it would be Otterbox. But Otterbox doesn't make a case for the 1520. Booo!

I checked out the reviews here (Lumia 1520 case | Windows Phone Central) and decided on the Nillkin Ultra Slim case due to the protection it offered for the camera that no other slim case appeared to do.

Agreed which is why I hate having to hide it in a case; however, experience tells me I better. A clear TPU case would be great.
