    Hi all,
I am thinking about getting the 1520, but I have a few questions.
As I understand it, there is a Component called screen reader in settings and accessibility. Can anyone confirm that?
I am visually impaired so therefor I am asking.
Could you also try enabling the screen reader and also, see if the shortcut for starting the screen reader is switched on in the screen reader settings?
    Is the voice ok?
    Many thanks for any help!

Did you mean narrator? There is narrator which reads text aloud from the phone. Is that the one you are looking for?

Under ...Settings>East of Access... there are functions for doing this.

Text Size: Changes the text size in People, phone, email, messaging, lock screen and some webpages.
High Contrast: Changes the colors for some features, and hides some of their background images
Narrator: Use narrator to read aloud text on your phone.
Screen Magnifier: To magnify, double-tap with two fingers. Allows pan and zoom.
Allow Zooming on all web content
Speech for Phone Accessibility: use speech to announce caller ID
    TTY/TDD as well.

    These all function well.

Hope that helps. The phone is fantastic so you should enjoy it.

Yes, Narrator is the thing I am looking for.
As I said in Narrator, is there a shortcut that one could press to activate it, Think it is volume down and Power key?
Can you open up a text message/email and see if you can type with narrator and if it inserts the character as soon as you release your finger?
I am not able to try the phone Before I get it unfortunatly.
    Does it seem responsive?
    Thanks alot!

Also, if you have Narrator turned off, can you try this also or does this applies only when Narrator is on?
If Narrator is unresponsive and you can't navigate your phone, you may need to restart the phone. To do so, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time for 1015 seconds. When you feel a vibration, release the Volume Down and Power buttons immediately. This will restart your phone with Narrator already turned on. (Sometimes your phone will vibrate right away when you press the Volume Down and Power buttonsthis is probably due to your ringer changing to Vibrate. Wait to release the buttons until a second vibration after 1015 seconds.)

And at last, since I live in Europe and htis feature is only available on US, is it possible to change to the US English language on the phone so that one can use this feature?
    Many thanks

The narrator on windows phone is fully functional, but I recommend you to get some help from a close person or a specialist for the first time using it.

Is that shortcut enabled by default?
Check in the Narrator settings, I Think, if it is on by default.
What physical buttons are on this phone?

When I first went in to settings, both narrator and narrator quick launch were off.

Lol, gave myself a scare cause I left quick launch on backed out of the settings and enabled it... Couldn't figure out how to turn it back off... Really got scared when my phone locked and I couldn't unlock it. Finally figured it out though and git it turned off.

Narrator is like that Mio flavoring for water... It changes everything.

For anyone who is running Windows phone 8.1 with none English, does Narrator show up there as well?
I have read that Narrator is only available in the US English language, but would be interesting to know if the choice is available anyway and that it would start speaking.
If not, I suppose I can change to US English on my device even here in Europ?
