So, I broke my screen on my 920 (owned since they came out years ago) and filed an insurance claim on it. Apparently, AT&T doesn't have anymore to replace it with, because this is what they replaced it with! I've been wanting to try out a 1520 for awhile now, but didn't want to renew my contract for one incase it was too big for me, but I think a $62 insurance claim for one will work for now.

Same thing for me last week! Usually I am against device insurance as by the time you pay for it and the deductible, you could have bought a new phone verses getting a refurb... But I took over my brothers account since he moved out of the country and saw I was paying for insurance.. got his old 920 replaces with a brand new 1520!!! That's a deal to me, lol!

Well... I am looking at the 1520 with the nillkin case on it and I have not powered it on since I received it Friday... My old 920 is doing great after a factory restore... Besides I had to get a nano sim card Saturday... I just have not had the time to upgrade... And I am waiting on my micro sd... I don't know... Everything has to be right before I make a step like that... I mean I need to shower, reflect, etc,... LOL!

The phone is huge and nice though... cant wait to get some time to power it on.

AT&T only allows you to add insurance within 30 days of purchasing your phone. Probably to so prevent people from adding insurance just to get a new phone.

Nice upgrade you have there! My wife had the same thing happen, had to file an insurance claim, got AT&T to send out a 1520 and cover half of the deductible.

Well, I've been using the 1520 for a few days, and I do really like the phone, but damn its BIG! I don't know if I'll be able to handle the size of it in the long run. It's definitely not a one-handed phone, which is annoying. If they made a 5 inch version of this phone with QI wireless charging, I think it would be PERFECT!

I've also considered doing this since I've had my 920 on AT&T with the insurance since June of last year. But I really hate to give up my Qi wireless charging and 32GB storage for AT&T's stripped down version. Damn you AT&T!!!

So you have a picture of two working phones (920,1520) with the same start screen on both. Apparent its the same account. So you sir are an expert at working the system if you claimed the 920 was broken:)

Edit: I see screen cracked, but still working. 15 buck replacement and you have practically 2 new phones there:)

They usually allow you some time to make sure you have everything off the old phone moved to the new... Then you have to get the old (claim filed) phone to them by a certain time limit. You don't get to keep the damaged device.

Yeah, the 920 still works fine, it's just the glass broke. I checked into fixing it, but it was gonna cost me $95 for the repair (with no guarantee that the new digitizer will work properly), and only $62 for an insurance claim. And, they give you 1 week to switch everything over before you have to return your old phone. It only took about 5 minutes to log into my accounts with the 1520, then it automatically set it up just like my 920. The only thing I had to do extra was to transfer all my pictures over manually.

I was initially in the same boat but what you gain with the 1520 will more than make up for it......at least that's my opinion anyway.

I was offered a 1520 when my 920 broke as well. I asked them for, and they provided me with, a 1020 instead. The 1520 is just too big. If AT&T hadn't watered it down by removing Qi and dropping the memory down to 16 GB I might have been tempted to try living with the large size. I had to buy a separate wireless charging shell for the 1020, but at least there was an option to do so unlike the 1520. I like the 1020, but the camera is too slow, I'd like a higher resolution screen, and sensor core. I hope MS gets around to releasing a "1030" soon.

They do, tis called the 930/Icon. What you need is for AT&T to start offering it instead of that big red company.

The 16gb in general is enough for apps etc, rest to the SD of course. The Qi is another matter.

I just put in a claim for my 920 through AT&T, talked them into warranty replacing my phone even though it was out of warranty. (Amazing how amicable they are when you point out that you only have 90 days left on a 2 year contract, gotta love capitalistic greed) so I'll let you all know if the phone refurb gods bless me with a 1520 instead.

Should be a couple more days...oh the anticipation. Either I get a new 1520 to use ... or I get a basically brand new 920 to sell on ebay to offset the cost of my 1520.

Even if AT&T did offer it, they don't support qi wireless charging.

That's a great deal for you! But don't let it happen again because the cost to fix the 1520 screen is $200 and the deductible from ATT is also $200 for this phone...so essentially you pay a monthly insurance fee for nothing! I found this out recently when i dropped my 1520..

That policy changed a few years ago. I busted my 1520 and they have been trying to sell me insurance everytime i talk to ATT in store or on the phone but its not worth it with a $200 deductible on this phone.

They Must have gone back to it. When I Bought My wife A new Phone in July they Said that was the Policy. At the time they had a sort of "open enrollment" offer. But a person can no longer add it at any time. I cancelled and signed up with square trade. Now I cover 2 Phones for less than I paid for 1.
