I bought a Qi charger on Amazon: Amazon.com: RAVPower Wireless Charger Charging Pad Qi-Enabled USB Charger Phone Charger for Nexus 5 / 7 / 4; Samsung Galaxy S5, S4, S3, Note3, Note2; Droid Charge; LG Optimus LTE2, Spectrum; HTC Rezound, Incredible 2, Incredible 4 LTE; Motorola Droid)

But my 1520.3 got VERY hot the first (and only) time I put it on the charger. By VERY, I mean uncomfortable to touch the top area on the back. I wish I'd thought to use my laser thermometer on it. It's much cooler charging over USB with the charger it came with despite charging at almost 30 percent an hour on such a large battery.

Is that typical for Qi charging on a 1520?

I'm sending it back either way because I'll risk the wear and tear on the usb port over the high temps. I don't find Qi to be any real convenience with a 1520 that has such great battery life it only needs to be charged a few times a year (j/k).

I have an official Nokia Qi charger being used with my 920, and it certainly gets warmer/hotter than wired charging. (by nature, my Palm Pre 2 and Touchstone heated up quite a bit when charging- moreso than my Lumia and DT-900 (i think) combo.)

It definitely gets warm, but I don't think it really reaches around uncomfortable levels. (but this is it remaining idle, if I were to start doing some heavy messaging, the temp's bound to go up.

I would be quick to suspect there was a quality issue with that pad.

A little heat is prob normal, but not a lot.

The "sweet spot" for Qi charging seems to be the slightly below the middle of the phone, so try placing the lower half of the L1520 over the middle of your Qi charger.

If that doesn't help, try charging with a Nokia Qi charger instead.

No thanks. I only got the charger to reduce use of the usb port. I would actually find using any Qi charger to be an annoyance. Plus you and others posted extra heat is normal. I'll pass on the extra heat.

It's normal. My L920 does it and my new L830 does it as well
