I want to add more music to my 1520, so I was thinking about getting a bigger microSD card. It's definitely outgrowing my 32GB one, so I have my sights on a 64GB (or maybe even a 128GB). I don't mind having to re-add my music to the new microSD. The major question here is:

Can I move my apps (and data) from one microSD to another microSD smoothly and successfully?

I'd really don't want to have to re-download ALL of my apps onto the new microSD card. Downloading my apps to my phone's memory is not an option; the phone doesn't have enough free memory to accommodate my app catalog. I already know how I will do it...it's only a matter of if it can be done. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Here's the thing: the 1520 doesn't have two microSD card slots, and does not permit you to access the app files stored within. Thus, you can't really transfer your apps directly between cards.

By the way, I think transferring music directly between cards will probably result in errors, so it's safer to just resync music to the new card.

I know the 1520 doesn't have two microSD card slots. My intentions were to connect my phone to my PC and the microSD card to my PC via a card adapter, but your point does hold true; I can't access the apps on the microSD card anyways...or at least I think I can't.

I used Macrium Reflect on a PC to clone the SD card to another. If the destination card is smaller, it will automatically resize the partition of it can. If the destination card is bigger, you will need to expand the partition yourself. I just used the disk manager that is part of Windows to expand the partition.

Interesting... Let me make sure that I got this correctly. I'll be moving all my apps from a smaller SD card to a larger SD card. Since I'm doing this, I have to expand the partition myself via disk manager correct? I haven't bought the larger SD card yet. I wanted to make sure that I could do this without any trouble.

I wonder if performing a hard reset with the new micro sd card would work? Try running a new back up of your device with the current micro sd card including all apps and settings to one drive, then removing the small card, inserting the new larger one and try the hard reset and restore from the recent back up.

    Correct. That's what I did going from a 16gb to a 64gb.

Once my SD card comes in, I'll definitely do this. Awesome! Glad you can confirm that this works. Thanks so much Mattman86. I'll update the thread once I successfully do this.

I tried doing this when going from my 32GB card to my 64GB card. To do this successfully, I had to move apps back to my phone and then to the new SD card.
