Try eBay or aliexpress (for refurbished ones).

Are refurbished any good? Or I do risk that the phone may not work?
Anyway it's a shame that the only top windows phone is not produced anymore (yeah i know that there is a 930 out there, but the 1520 is still better [battery, glance screen]).

Personally, I don't know. But my cousin bought several phones from aliexpress, all refurbished. She did not face any problem till now. Guess that it depends on luck, just as those buying new 1520s and also facing problems.

Refurbished phones are generally a fine bet unless you absolutely want a pristine, mint device. but in my experience, such units are "good enough," especially for the discount. Heck, I've had good luck with used devices except for one "good condition" Palm PDA which ended up smelling like cigarette smoke and had a battery life of 10 minutes. I ended up refurbishing it myself though.

Even in new phones there's always risk of receiving a defective one. Regardless, try to get a phone with some kind of warranty. My refurbished laptop came with a 90 day warranty.

I think the risk of buying a lemon is outweighed by the discount usually, but its ultimately up to you do decide.
