I saw somewhere that the 520 would support the 128GB SDCard. Has anyone tried?

On paper, no. It states up to either 32 or 64 GB, I don't remember.
But the only way to know for sure is an official statement from Nokia or a random person testing it out.

    +1, anyone try that?

I do not think anyone who uses a $80 phone would pay for a $120 card! Anyways, technically there is no limitation on the hardware part and WP8 supports SDXC standard with exFAT. So if a 256gb SDXC card will come out in the future, it will also work.

Actually, if you just use the phone as a music player (like I do), it makes perfect sense to put a more expensive SD card in there. Good to know that it should be supported.

The specs for Lumia 520 say support upto 64 GB. Since 128 GB cards weren't exactly commonplace when this user guide was made, it didn't mention those. I suspect 128 GB cards are supported.
