My recent update deleted photo's and video's, how do I get them back?

Recent update deleted photo's and video's

Hi there, my Daughter is really upset to find that since an update yesterday, photo's, video's and applications seem to have been completely deleted from her phone. Some of the photo's and video's have a lot of sentimental value, but unfortunately they had not been backed up. Can anyone offer any advice on restoring the phone to how it was before the update - or is everything gone for good? Any help would be really appreciated.

Are you sure that was an update and not a hard reset ?

Because I've not heard of any update which deletes your phone data.

Did she store the pictures on a SD card. If so connect the phone to a pc and try to find them with windows explore.
Basically an update does not delete anything but glitches happen.
