It seems like GDR2+ Amber are rolling out to 521s in the US now, you should be able to check for phone updates in your phone settings!

Hmm. Upon running the phone update app, I got notification that 2 updates were ready for my phone about 20 mins ago. The first time I tried, the phone checked, downloaded, and thought for about 10 mins, then said it couldn't install the updates. I made sure my WiFi was on and tried again. After about the same amount of time I got a boatload of notices on the screen and now it is updating and restarting. Hope its something good. Showing two gears turning on my screen now. Whatever it is, its big.

Says it migrating my data - taking a long time.

It downloaded, then said "Preparing to Install". That got to 100% and has been sitting there for several minutes...

It takes a while. Mine just said it was done, then shut itself off. I'm starting it back up now to see what I got.

Got Data Sense. Got FM :)

Got Data Sense. No FM radio that I've found yet - maybe I need an app for that.
FM Radio is under Music, you may need to reboot before it show's up..

Finally got the ready to install message. Then it took several minutes to restart, which it just did. Now I have the gears, It's like watching paint dry compared to Android.

Has anyone here tried 64Gb SD cards on the 521?

Now that I know it's getting GDR2+Amber, I'm willing to give it a try if it reads 64Gb microSDs.

I've had a 64GB SD card in my 521 since I've had the. 521, and it's worked fine so far.

Still installing GDR2 on it, si I can't yet say whether it changes anything there.

So, this is exciting. I've had GDR2 on my 925, and have missed having DataSense on its little sister.

Thanks for the info! That's reassuring.
One more question: How much space are you using on the 64Gb card? At least half of the card?

No glance screen under display settings yet, but this link says it will come after you get Amber. Hope that's true. Of course it also says that it wont be available for the 521. Hope thats not true

521 do not have hardware this is required for Glance Screen or Peek so we will not get those features..

Glance screen is not coming to 521 unfortunately.

It says so on your link:
Due to hardware restrictions Nokia Glance will not be available for Nokia Lumia 520 and 521.

Yeah, I know, but call me scetical on the hardware limitation thing. I thought somebody here that installed one of the unofficial updates got it. Its not biggy either way. Does the 520 with the pre-installed Amber have it?

If you flashed your phone with GD2/Amber then the updates you are seeing would be normal.

I just checked and no update for access point, wificalling, audio, display, etc..

Checked T-Mobile 521 Support page still no word on when they are pushing the updates out

checked nokia servers still have current version not gd2/amber that was pulled that is posted above on dropbox and mega.
odd thing is that I didnt flash it. maybe it was just an update i failed to install? I dont understand haha.

    maybe I'll just flash tommorow.

edit: currently checking for a phone update, we will see what pops up (seems to be taking for ever to check)

Finally finished and I played around with it for a bit. I think DataSense is probably the most obvious new feature. The FM radio is there, but it told me I needed to plug in headphones, I was hoping to l listen through my Bluetooth. Won't know until later I of there's any obvious difference in battery life.

the requirement for the wired head phones is something that has been around for a while, would be nice if you didnt have to plug em in to use the FM radio (or the phone had an antenna built in)

Took as long time checking for it. Decent time downloading it. A really long time preparing for installation (Especially after it said 100%). A decent amount of time installing it. And a reality long time migrating data. Definitely longer than the Android updates I've done in the past!

dont even get me started on android haha.

Currently I would place this update procedure right between apple and android, apple being the best and android the worst.

I finally updated it, too very little time to download.

Insteadof waiting, I gotta mow the lawn :)
