In the access point menu in settings, my lumia 521 has 2 providers:

I found this when my MMS failed on 2G, and I wanted to see if I had cell data turned off. (I wasn't used to nokias added settings, and "lost" the cellular menu)

I switched to the IPV6 mode, and not only did MMS work on 2G, my 2G connection seems faster and more efficient. Same with 3G and 4G, when in town.

Anyone else notice this setting?

I didn't find much (non-technical) info on IPV6 vs IPV4 (what most phones use).

IPv6 is an improved protocol so your speed could be better as will your connection reliability. I have the 521 as well and switched to IPv6 - haven't noticed really any speed differences but the connection seems a bit more stable

my 2G is faster than it used to be. Not by very much, but still some. And my 3G & 4G seem a tad faster, though it may be just me on that one.
