HSPA 21 or HSPA 42?

I keep seeing different stats for this phone regarding its connection speed.

With HSPA+42 it should be possible to get 20Mbit/sec at times.

Has anyone definitively confirmed one way or the other?

I don't honestly know the technicals one way or another.

I can tell you real world use though. In the Boston metro, I'm consistently getting 12-15 down and 3-5 up.

Here are my speedtest results

Official Specs says this

WCDMA max data speed DL: HSDPA - 21.1 Mbps
WCDMA max data speed UL: HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps

So just hspa+21mb supported not hspa+42mb

Edit: Those numbers are consistent with HSPA+21. I didn't look carefully at the Wifi.

Any more input appreciated. The Walmart website says HSPA+42, but many phone spec type sites says it's just HSPA+21.

One can only get about half the theoretical peak. On my Nexus 4 HSPA+42 I can get 20-23Mbit/s down, but only at off peak times; during peak hour it's sometimes only 5Mbit/sec. 12.7 is a bit too high for HSPA+21, but more testing is needed, especially at off hours. If you can get close to 20Mbit, it's definitely HSPA+42.

It may not matter in some places, since in some markets T-Mobile will actually have to go from HSPA+ 42 down to HSPA+ 21 to make space for LTE.

Some more SpeedTest Results, really impressed with T-Mobile Speeds versus what I had from at&t. Almost has fast has my 20mb Cable Connection.

glad I got the 2.5gb data plan, I could burn through basic 550mb in speedtest alone..
