Hard Reset For WiFi Calling

I want to hard-reset my phone so I can enable WiFi calling. However, after reading these forums, I'm now scare to do it, because alot of people have reported bricking their phones after a hard reset. Any recourse on recovering your phone if you experience the "Spinning Gears of death?". I would like to avoid a $150 dollar paperweight. What are the realistic chances of bricking your phone after doing a hard reset?

Also, the firmware has already been updated.

What's the best way to do a hard reset, through the software or the button combination? Should I leave my sd card in or remove it? Should I have it on the charger or off? Sorry about the questions, I just want to ensure I don't mess things up.

WP8 is pretty good about backing up information, so at least you don't have to reconfigure everything. Glad to hear the reset went well.
