521 case camera lens mod.

After browsing the 1020 forum thread about adding lenses to that very fine camera (thanx to landcameras) my mind started racing.
So just fiddling around last night because I don't sleep at all...this small mod popped into existence late this afternoon.

I have a lot of 35mm items left over from my film days so...
Well you know how it goes we never get rid of anything because ya never know it might come in handy someday.

Just holding the lens in front of the 521's camera yesterday and it seemed to work ok.
It was hard to shoot pics because of my shakiness (I down too much coffee on a daily basis :grin: )
Had this inexpensive plastic cover from Amazon thrown in a junk drawer so I thought "hey what if."
The lens is a made in china video 2X camera lens.

I'll try and get some pics with this in the coming hours.
My first thread here...

There's another mounting mod forthcoming that may work for the many talented photogs here on WPC!

Editing to show 2 more pics using a new AIMO case and a 37mm to 52mm step ring.
This one came out a little cleaner.
I'm waiting for a hopefully better quality 2X Zykkor lens.
We'll see what happens

That QX10\QX100 would be perfect for the 520\521 not having a flash and having the lens in the middle top center.
Looked at the QX10 some time back.

My efforts weren't spectacular because the Nokia camera already has very good macro ability.
The telephoto lens effort was ok all it did was double the 5mp lens focal length with aberration and fringing because of low quality glass.
(see the frog statue pic in the 521 photo thread)

Had an idea to use a Pentax M42 screwmount adapter for the older Pentax lenses that could be bought at low cost
(well low cost before people started adapting them to their micro 4:3rd mirrorless cameras)

The Pentax\Takumar lenses up to 300mm f4 wide open could be adapted then these phones would have a heck of good telephoto range.
My idea isn't really worth it.
Just for fun mainly ... thanx for reminding me about this!

I'll have to get my Meade C-90 telescope out one of these days and whip up an adapter for nightsky pics.

I spent 16 on this crappy thing - hopefully it gives me just enough zoom from the cheap seats at the ball game or arena event that I need. Looks like it may work pretty well.
I'd be curious to see how it works ... might be a pleasant surprise there.

The Sony QX10 & QX100 are not just adapter lenses, they are almost complete cameras, with image sensor and all. The only thing they don't have is the human interface bits, which is why they attach to a phone. They use an app on the phone to control the camera.

Its been a long while but here they are, best 16.00 I've spent. You be the judge! the 1st 2 are without the lens, the second 2 are with. (don't mind the WWE, took the GF's daughter back in june)

Pretty good for inside shots.

I'd be curious to see a few outside or tripod shots.
Maybe if you get time...or heck I guess I could just buy one of these doodads :smile:
