Not enough room for New Maps Even SD has 1.7 GB free space

Hello all,

My phone Lumia 521 has some issues regarding the space where I store the maps.

I have set to store maps on SD card which still has 1.7 GB free space.
When I try to download a new map(Florida 159MB), the system complains that
"Not enough room"
You need at least 1,891.6MB of free space on your phone to get this map. Free up some space and try again.

Question> Why I need so much space for a Florida map which only requires 159MB?

Any workaround for this.

I believe maps save only to phone memory... not the SD card. Erase some other maps and see what happens. I bet two things will happens

1. Space will not be freed up on the SD card
2. You will be able to install the Florida map.

Did you try powering down and restarting the phone and see if that fixes the problem.

I believe maps save only to phone memory... not the SD card.

The complete U.S. map is only 2.7GB (if I recall correctly), so you might as well install that.

It's because nokia's stupid programmer calculated total map size. You have 1.8gb maps already installed in your phone. When you want to install a new 159mb map, the software thinks you need 1.8gb+159mb free space, instead of just 159mb free space! Even dumber, if you want to delete a map, the software wants 1.8gb free space too. Those programmers should be fired. But seems nokia does not care.
