I am going to get one of these phones. I know that the 635 has LTE (UP TO 8 MBPS), and the 630 does not (UP to 4 mbps). Free is most definitely better than $100. I will be using this on Cricket Wireless, so will I really notice a huge difference in speed? FYI im an average user.

Take advantage of the promo and get the 630 for free. In 2 months, after you get your $50 prepaid visa card, buy the 635 if the 630 is too slow for you. It would give you something to look forward to and you'd have a backup phone.

It totally depends if you need super fast data.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can save battery on the 630 if you are using Wifi by switching the mobile network to 2G. 2G Data uses considerably less battery than 3G or 4G.

On the 635 you can only toggle between 3G and 4G.

Lumia 635: Fast data speeds
Lumia 630: Better battery if switched to 2G.

Can data be toggled completely off on the 630?

There is zero point to the 635 on Cricket with the capped data speed. 630 - for free after rebate - is all you would want. If you are unsatisfied with Cricket, worst case scenario is you have a free phone after rebate to sell for $20 to put towards a 635 on a new carrier.

Thanks for all the input. I think I've decided to get the 630. I don't need super fast speed I just need enough speed that I can watch a video every now and then. How is reception on the 630?

Not true. On cricket the ATT 635 will get 8mbps and have internet sharing. The cricket 630 will get 4mbps and won't have internet sharing.

Do they limit HSPA speeds? I thought it was just a hard cap of 8 all around. That certainly would make a difference. MS store was selling an AT&T 635 no contract for $100 last I saw. Another $10 for a Cricket SIM and you'd be good to go.

Tough to debate $0 4mbps to $110 for 8mbps.
