EE UK now selling 1GB Ram Lumia 635

Hi all,

Just a heads up for those in the UK.

I visited my local EE shop and noticed that they are selling the new 1GB Ram version of the 635.

They are also selling it on their ebay outlet store here: Nokia Lumia 635 Windows smartphone on EE pay as you go - 1GB RAM | eBay

They don't appear to be selling it on their main online shop yet though (at least the 635 on there does not mention Ram size).

Had a play with one of these today and noticed that it can now capture and playback Living Images (where a 2 second video accompanies each shot) taken with Lumia Camera. Living Images is not available on the normal 512MB 635.

Nope, however you could potentially import a Lumia 636/8 or get a Lumia 820 for a good price,

Why they didn't just release the 635 with 1 GB of ram from the beginning is beyond me. What's the point of half a gig.

the phone still works fine with 512 MB RAM, and probably helps pad an already thin margin.

I get that. And I praise Microsoft for that. But its there really a necessity to make another phone model just for another half a gig of ram? In that case, throw in flash, ffc.

It is definitely and odd choice, especially with the vastly superior 640 just around the corner.

My guess is that it's unsold 638 stock re-purposed for markets where the phone is actually selling well.

Cool I was able to find the 820 for like 40 used. Unfortunately the CPU is pretty weak in comparison with the 635's . the 636/638 both seem to be in the 100-115 dollar range but the only difference is 512 extra mb of ram. idk if the 50-60 dollar's more is worth 512 mb of extra ram. The 640 is suppose to be around that price range and bring extras that is worth the extra the 50-60 you have to pay over the 635.

On the contrary, the 920 (the 820 is the same under-the-hood) gives the 830's performance a run for its money.
I don't think performance will be an issue. The smaller battery if anything.
