Why does my Nokia 635 turns on by itself when there's new text?

nokia 635 turns on by itself when there's new text

my daughter told me that her phone would turn on by itself at the middle of the night when there's a new text. anyone else encounter that problem or is this a "feature"?

Yes, it is a feature of Windows Phone to light the screen up to notify you of phone calls and text messages. You can take advantage of Quiet Hours to disable this during the night when you'd rather not have your phone wake you.

Search for "Quiet Hours" in Cortana, or swipe down to the Notification Center, choose All Settings, and choose Quiet Hours. You can set the days of the week and the time of day that you would like Quiet Hours to be active. While QH is active, your phone won't light up or sound tones to notify you of text messages, phone calls, etc.
