Hi Y'all!

Are you guys using any special setting or what? I've never seem to take pictures this good in my Lumia 800

Check these examples (i call them miracles, are my best) as usually my L800 takes horrible pictures

Light and composition is the key. For sure also a lot of trial and error with the manual settings.

I'm starting to believe some Lumias might have the good camera, whilst others have a bad one, no matter the amount of updates.
There just isn't any way I can get pictures to the level of some posted here. :(

I also think exactly the same, my first L800 camera was slightly better than my current L800. I also own a Samsung Galaxy S3, whilst the camera is the same 8 megapixels, the difference is abysmal between Lumia and Galaxy S3.

The sensor in the Samsung is a Lot smarter than the Lumias. Nokia "skipped" those sensors to concetrate on the PureView technology.

The images posted here are not just point and shoot. Even if some of them are taken in Auto mode, there is some knowledge behind the shots in terms of lighting and composition.

So, yes. You can take great photos on a Lumia, but it is much easier on other phones.

Personally I mostly use the tap on screen to capture since it seems to make it easier for the phone to get Whitebalance right. I also use the shooting modes like landscape, macro etc. The only manual setting I use is normally Whitebalance to help out the camera in tricky situations.

I find getting good indoor photos particularly tough. The first 2 were just open and shoot, the 3rd one I tried messing around with the settings to experiment

During my vacation last week i finally had some time to play with my lumias camera settings and i?m surprised how good the images get, if the settings are right. Learned to love the lumia a little bit more :)

Cheers,
Tom

Yeah that first image is stunning. The third image freaked me out a little since, well I'm not a big fan of spiders lol.

Just out of curiosity, do you recall what settings you used?
