How to the change the data connection from edge to 3g in lumia 820?

Hey guys I just got my Lumia 820. With Vodafone I got a three months 3g data (limited to 2gb/month). In the morning the connection was showing as 3g, but the mobile went into battery saving mode and the 3g switched to edge (I wonder battery saving mode could have any effect on the connection). Now even after restoring to full power the connection type is still showing as edge. Kindly let me know how to switch it back to 3g mode.

For me i never get 3g when i am inside the house.. i guess its due to poor 3g reception in vodafone. But my airtel 3g works just fine.

Goto settings>Mobile network>highest connection speed>3G
