Windows App on the computer/ laptop

I have a Windows 7 laptop and I have that windows app on it. But when I plug my phone into it, it never connects to the app

There may be an update your laptop needs to make this work. I had to update mine.... Fair warning, though, the WP8 app for Windows 7 sucks. You're better off with the drag and drop method, since WP8 supports USB mass storage.

EDIT: I just remembered what the update was. I had to get my .NET framework to minimum of version 4.0. But still, I recommend drag and drop over the app.
