Will the Lumia 822 get the AWS support update the 928 will receive?

Highly unlikely, probably impossible. 928 got AWS support because it had hardware capable of taking advantage of both LTE band 4 (AWS) and band 13. Lumia 822 only has support for LTE band 13, which is not AWS.

The specs confirming the hardware capability for both are at nokia.com if you want to take a look. Unless AWS support is completely hidden away in the 822 (and nobody bothered to put it on the spec sheet), it won't be possible.

Nokia received permission from the FCC: ID QMNRM-860 (Approved Feb 22, 2013) for an in the field software upgrade that would enable LTE band 4 (UL 1710-1755 Mhz, DL 2110-2155 MHz) on the Lumia 928. I contacted Nokia Care and received the following reply.

"I hope for your kind understanding as for now, there is no such information available in our end regarding the radio software upgrade enabling AWS on the Lumia 928." Josh (10:07:56)
