Well, I buy a phone because it satisfies me, not my friends. Because ultimately the person who is going to use the device is you and not your friends. That said, I've made fun of my Android friends a lot of times when their WhatsApp app says" xyz process has stopped working". They also love playing asphalt games on my phone, and they are mad that they don't have age of empires on Android and the IRCTC app makes them hate their Android phones lol. Tentacles: Enter the mind and assassins creed HD are some of the games that they are annoyed at not having on Android. They also have to pay a yearly 500Rs each year for antivirus, while I don't have to.
We'll first of all they technically don't have to pay Rs 500 each year, I've been using Android for nearly three years now. If your friends stick to downloading stuff only from the Play Store they won't ever get a virus.
Process randomly closing was an issue on older devices, I've barely ever seen it happen on any recent Android phones with good hardware.
But I highly agree with your first point, everyone should get a phone not because of what your friends say but because of what satisfies you.
Ultimately, I am a power user and I like doing several things at once and you simply can't do that on any mobile OS other than Android.
Just as an example, I can transcode a video in the background, while compressing another video, while also sending a audio/video to a friend in the background through Whatsapp, while also playing a game and while also chatting with a person using the Facebook chatheads.
You can barely do any of the above stuff together on Windows Phone and it's not the OS for power users.
I'm willing to admit that not everyone is a power user, and Windows Phone appeals to those who want a phone that does limited stuff and does it well.
And WP has glance, which is not supported on Android. Which I also find is more noticeable than a blinking led during the night, as the whole screen lights up and gives much more info like no. Of missed calls, no of emails, in fact any app. I can also customize it with a background, write custom text, and also have a quick glance when I want to see the time. I take it out of my pocket and it automatically tells the time without pressing any button.
Actually, Android does have a feature similar to glance. It's called Moto Display and it's on the original Moto X and the new one, it's like 10x more useful than Glance because you can interact with notifications.
But now you'll say that not every phone has it, wrong again. Because of how awesome Android is, there is an app called "AcDisplay".
It has interactive notifications and it also lights up when you pull your phone from your pocket, it works quite well actually and it's better than Glance.
And Glance won't be on the 730 if I am not wrong? But AcDisplay will work on the Moto G.
Oh and apart from just Active Display, AcDisplay, we also have notification LEDs.
We simply "have" more than a Windows Phone user can ever dream off.
