830 RM-985 on WIND mobile in Canada?

Hey,

I saw the RM-985 online and the frequencies listed were:

LTE 700 (17), 850 (5), 1700 (4), 1900 (2), 2600 (7); WCDMA 850, 900, 1900, 2100; and GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900

This will work on T-Mobile which is generally a good bearing for WIND, as it is also an AWS carrier. The big difference is that WIND does not have LTE, and only operates a HSPA+ network.

Is LTE 1700 the same HSPA 1700 or will it not work.

​FWIW - WIND needs 1700 and 2100 bands for its network.

No it is not. Wind needs AWS 1700/2100 which are the bands listed under WCDMA.

From my understanding the RM-985 version of the L830 will not work on wind. It's missing the AWS bands on UMTS. T-Mobile should be fully compatible. It has AWS band (IV) LTE, and for UMTS it has 1900mhz. T-Mobile has moved all if not most of its 3.5-3.9g to the 1900 PCS band. And it will now be shifting all of its GSM/EDGE to LTE, the this version of the L830 also supports within its LTE bands (1900). Additionally, T-Mobile has spectrum that it bought from Verizon - 700mhz spectrum (17) which is also within the listed LTE bands. In other words, going forward, this device will be FULLY compatible with T-Mobile's network.

Wait for Rogers to release the 830 since most of Rogers' Windows Phones come with the 1700/2100 band (of course that's not certain but you should wait until it's release before buying anything).
