What should I expect if I try to update to the latest build without the firmware updates ? A few months back I did update to the .107 version and was not happy with the results. Have the glitches been worked out such as the screen flicker and the glance screen issues ?

Smart move, because these issues cannot be fixed with OS updates. They need a firmware fix, which will, I expect, never happen...

It does not matter if it is branded or not, it depends on the RM model/make. Some are not affected, some are mildly, and some are heavily affected.
