Bloated system storage 8.1

Hi, as the title says my system storage is eating up available space. It's sitting at 8gb (out of 16gb). If it weren't for my SD card I'd have run out of space long ago.

I haven't updated to Windows 10 Mobile and I'd rather not do a hard reset - I've got apps that are no longer available, e.g. Glance Background.

I have had this phone since 2014.

This problem mysteriously cleared up today.

The available storage on my phone had hovered around 1 GB for months. Then it continued dropping despite not installing any apps and regularly clearing caches (all media is on the SD card). The available space had dwindled to approximately 800 MB this morning.

Now I have 4 GB for some reason. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary. I'm not complaining though

Okay, whatever this is hasn't disappeared, just reset itself. I'm at 2.9 GB now and losing a few MB daily.

Aaaand since it finally hit 400MB, I decided to try an app called Storage Cleaner by Venz, which freed up 3+ GB.

I guess the storage problem from WP8 is still around in 8.1 after all... Probably ancient history at this point LOL.

Happy to know there's an app now. In my 8.1 days, I only had the manual way lol
