I think those who signed up previously are grandfathered automatically to 25GB if I'm not mistaken no?

Lol do we need five threads for everything around here? We have a lot on Apollo and whether phones will get the upgrade, several on the Lumia 900's camera, and this is the third thread about Skydrive.

In my personal SkyDrive account, I was automatically able to keep the 25 GB of free storage without needing to click the link because I have over 7 GB of files stored in there already. In my wife's account and the one linked to a Live ID that I use for work, I had to click the link to get the 25 GB because those accounts both had less than 7 GB of files stored in them.

Got it done. I had to go to the PC skydrive site to upgrade it. I won't work if you're on the app version.

You can still do it from your phone. Change your browser settings to load the desktop site and then go to SkyDrive.live.com and go to manage storage.

I believe it works like this: if you have more than 4gb stored on SkyDrive, it will automatically opt you into the 25gb. If you have less, you must manually opt in for the 25gb. Those without an existing account get the 7gb.

That works too. You just have to get to the PC site to manage storage.

Just updated from 7 to 25 free GBs. Only have about 1GB in use. It did say "for a limited time". Thanks for the post.

Yeah... I probably don't even have 1/4 of 1GB used.

However... free is free. upgraded ;)

Microsoft changed it to 7GB because no one was using the 25. I take a ton of pictures and only used 0.1% of my 25GB.

Still I went and got the free 25 upgrade :)

When did they drop it down to 7GB?

I just did the upgrade though and have the 25GB, I never even noticed it dropped but it did say 7GB. I'm not really using mine right now but in the next month or so I am going to decide on a new cloud strategy for backing up my photos and music and SkyDrive will probably be part of it.

They just did it a few days ago (I think). I looked last week sometime and had 25GB then looked 2 days ago and had 7GB.

Ah, that makes sense. I had 6.6 GB and there was no upgrade option; it just stayed at 25 GB.

I like the PC app. If only there were a SkyDrive app for BB, I think I'd cut DropBox loose.
