Hello, thanks for checking out my question.

Simply, I have a brand new, Nokia Lumia 900, AT&T branded.

Can it be used in another country, on another country's carrier? I am about 99% certain it works that way (SIM card thing, right?) In particular, I have this AT&T Lumia 900, and I am looking to give it to somebody who lives in Saudi Arabia. Can it be used there?

I use Sprint (Arrive) and am not entirely sure how the whole SIM card process works, that is why I am not entirely certain.

Thanks again for any replies!

Until then..........

If i am not mistaken, i believe the phone needs to be unlocked first. Right now, not sure anybody can unlock an ATT branded 900 at this point.

AT&T Lumias can't be used on any other network because AT&T isn't giving out unlock codes right now. International Lumias can be used on other networks.

It needs to be unlocked if they are going to expect to use it with a Saudi carrier, you would also want to check to see what radio standards are compatible with Saudi carriers, i.e. if there is 3G, 4G offered there, you should make sure the radio the 900 has is compatible so they will get acceptable data speeds.

You might try contacting the Saudi carriers to see if they will unlock the phone for this person, or what they suggest.

These are the major Saudi Arabian carriers:

http://www.sa.zain.com/

http://www.stc.com.sa/

If you just send them the phone as it is, the only thing they could do would be put it on an American AT&T account and then pay crazy roaming charges like $3/min on top of their plan to use it in S.A.

Hopefully that is of some help to you.
