Offline GPS conks out in the US

I live in Kitchener ON, but when I travel to Buffalo, my GPS always loses signal and I'm unable to utilize the offline GPS even though I have the regional settings set to US and have downloaded the offline NY maps.

I'm using a GS3 with my provider who is AWS so I can't use my 900, which sucks, so I keep this for the offline maps fuctionality as it's a great free gps to have. But if it stops working when I cross the border, it becomes somewhat useless.

Any ideas fellow lumia users?

Check the time zone settings. Make sure the time zone, the date and time are set to the locations you are in.
I had the same problem then I went from Vancouver Canada to Portland
My time and zone where off for some reason and no luck with gps
