are we left to die? :( on 7.8 and its issues

are we left to die? i've recently read and realized and actually i didn't know it until now but windows 7.8 and windows 8 are very different. from the apps to well everything. i started researching because i was hoping for an instagram client on my 7.8 lumia 900 but oh well. i guess we're hopeless. are we? i wanna change but there are still things that keep me from changing and those are the things that made me fall in love with it (lumia) in the first place. (( is there still hope for us to well get noticed by the devs? because i read that they are giving windows 8 more attention now and just forgetting about us.

A leaked slide panel shows a future update for current wp7 lumia devices I'm pretty sure Nokia and Microsoft will throw in the features like kids corner and Screenshot by then, I think the strategy was to increase the demand for windows phone 8 devices and later address the needs to windows phone 7 users.
