My previous HTC phone had it. Gets very annoying when using the phone for GPS and the damn thing times out every 5 minutes.

My 920 has options for the screen time-out to be 30 sec, 1 min, 3 min, 15 min, 30 min and Never.

Is there an update available for your phone?

    Mine is at...
    OS Version: 8.0.10211.204
    Firmware revision number: 1232.5962.1314.0001

Keep your data connection on until your phone checks for updates (once every 24 hours) and after that you should get some Nokia updates, specifically for display & touch you should get the option to choose never. You can get an app specifically meant for checking the store for Nokia app updates but I forget what it's called... Lumia checker or something?

The thing I don't understand is why your screen times out when you're using GPS. Are you using a program like Nokia Drive to navigate or Nokia Maps or another program? I can't say I have had a navigation app turn the screen off for me that I can remember.

I actually have the 900. It doesn't matter what app I have running. 5 min and its dark.

Mine also has the never, but Ive met a few people here on the forums who don't indeed have it on their 920. Weird indeed.

I moved the thread to the 900 forum, since OP has 900, not 920.

What carrier do you have? I believe the screen timeout selections are dependent on carrier. I have AT&T, and "never" is not an option. 5 minutes is the limit. However, I do not get timeout while using Nokia Drive GPS.

I've had ATT for years. My HTC HD7S had never as an option. I switched to the 900 about a month ago and now 5 min is the limit. The 920's have never as an option.
