So I was in a museum the other day which gave me a good opportunity to try my 920's camera out in low light conditions. I found that taking pictures without flash could slightly wash out the colour in a picture, and the pics I took with the flash on often represented the colours in a scene better. Has anyone else found this?

I find this as well, but a museum letting you take flash photography????

Try to avoid pointing camera at light bulbs as they can cause flare or washed out look. Also knock down the exposure by 2/3 or 1 EV in the settings if you find the picture come out a little too bright for the scene. Pros do that all the time because the auto exposure metering is not an exact science and the meter can get confused. Make sure to restore the EV adjustment to 0 afterwards.

There are the best set of photos i have seen on here. Great job!

Thanks!

I was just pointing and shooting using touch to focus. In some photos i used physical camera button. On that day i took something like 30 photos and none of them came out blurry. I discarded those from other reasons. Colours are quite accurate except shadows in some shots are too much blueish. I should have tweaked EV bit to + side in order to get accurate exposure. Photos are now slightly darker how it was in reality. Light in generally is correct.

Camera took al shots in 100 ISO value. It was quite cold -15 degrees and i was not tempted to tinker values manually. Phone worked perfectly with gloves by the way.

EDIT: I just checked my monitor settings and it was set to cool colour tone and now it is set to standard and photos look much more natural now. I have not calibrated my monitor so i cant really tell how accurate those photos are but anyway i bet those aren't that far off. My monitor is DELL U2412M. Only correct way is to watch them on colour calibrated monitor.

^ the difference b/w the 920 and 8x can't be huge .. they are both shooting at 1.4 micron pixels, so therefore the difference it quality won't be that big.. considering that most of the other components are "good enough" in both phones.

Where the 920 will excel compared to the 8x is in low light(longer exposures), and in video (OIS)/sound recording.. both by a pretty good margin.

Check this comparison. Even in daylight, the 920 has better exposure (no overblasted highlights).

Way better. And check the video recording comparison of Deadmau5 event. Hilariously different :)

I don't know, I find with the flash on, the LED is a bit too harsh and bluish, at least taking pictures indoors of people.

Just got my phone a couple of days ago and haven't had much time to go out and shoot with it. Here's one from a dark pub last night. Low light is amazing. My friend shot one with his iphone 5 and used a flash....looked crappy. This is with no flash and af on, and a quick touch up in CreativeStudio.
