Pictures/Videos taken with your 920!

Yay, can't wait to see your pix. The macro lens is definitely my favorite, but the fish eye and wide angle lens are also very neat!

I had my eye on one of those at Amazon but wasn't sure about quality or if it would fit on the 920. Your picture and comment on the magnetic ring made it a no brainer decision for me. The fact the ebay one is cheaper is just icing on the cake. Thanks!

couple of quickies post firmware update... including a closeup.

Setting the ISO at 100 really does make for cleaner images. Even after the update the camera app seems to favor cranking up the ISO, which is fine but makes for grainier images.

I was quite surprised how sharp those came out since i expected them to be more blurry. OIS helped a lot here i think. That why you should always take multiple shots.

I'm still not sure which are best settings for night shots. ISO-100 shot looks best overall maybe bit too dark. If you have time use lowest ISO possible and take multiple shots since it is very possible that photo come out blurry due longer shutter speed. Maybe ISO-400 and -2 step would be all rounder settings but still it all depens of scene you are shooting.

Earlier in the day I had taken a picture of my coffee cup, and then after getting the update in the afternoon took what I tried to make as similar a picture as possible to see if there were any differences. (All auto settings). The lighting was a bit different due to time of day, and after taking the second picture I brought them both into Picasa and zoomed in. The before-update picture is on the left, and the after-update picture on the right. I can best see the difference in the white "ear fur" of the cat, with individual brush strokes more visible in the "after update" picture...

Here are 3 shots I took last night to compare the updated 920 to the HTC One X. All were taken with Auto settings in 4:3 aspect.

Shot 1) Lumia 920
Shot 2) Lumia 920 ran through Creative Studio with the Clarity bumped up to full
Shot 3) HTC One X

As you can see the white balance sucks on the 920 in Auto mode. I found that setting White Balance to Florescent on the 920 produced a hue more similar to the HTC which was accurate to the light in our bedroom. However, I tried that later and I had re-arranged the table so I didn't want to use it for comparison. Moving on, with a well lit scene you can see that the One X is sharper. However, I should add that in inferior lighting the One X really struggles and has loads of noise. It's also tough to get a steady shot by hand on the One X and not using burst mode (which results in more noise and artifacts). The 920's image stabilization really does make a difference. I find myself using both cameras while we are out...HTC by day and Lumia for most indoor situations where light is not as good and of course at night.

Zoom down to 1:1 and look at the blue lotion bottle. Classic HTC sensor noise... check. On the Lumia? Pretty good...
