Apparently the chat rep I talked to was clueless, I just received my phone and it IS activated the moment it ships (11/8).

Good news is that there is a 3 day rule, that says you can cancel a line within 3 days and have no activation fee. So what you must do immediately, TODAY, is call ATT :

1-800-331-0500

And CANCEL all your line today to avoid pro-rated charges and $37 fee.

i haven't ordered yet because i'm holding out hope that Amazon has it at the $449 price point with no tax and free shipping. but in case it doesn't within the next week i am curious as to how easy was it to cancel your plan with AT&T after it shipped and whether the reps gave you any grief about it.
