My battery was doing alright till I turned on Bluetooth yesterday. I forgot to turn it off and the battery discharged from 60% to 0 in about 3 hours.

My headset was not in range, so the phone must have been trying to pair with the old profile.

Question: wasn't Bluetooth intended for low power consumption?

Also, I wish the Lumias had incorporated Bluetooth 4. They have a lower power profile and support the new devices like fitbits.

Bluetooth consumes almost no power at all.

Was the device you were pairing with, within range. The device in my case is a car, and it seems like a continuous check might have been causing the battery loss.

Open bt settings and see if it is constantly trying to find a saved device. If mine doesn't pair with something it cycles through all known devises looking for one. I think its supposed to time out but maybe yours got hung up? Just guessing but I would do a soft reset to make sure it doesn't happen again.

the total opposite with my lumia. after work from 10 AM - 7:00 PM, I come home with bluetooth turned on for the drive to and from work playing music and talking via headset fm tuner, i finish my day at 11:00PM @ 70% battery. this is also with actual usage and background apps running.

I haven't turned off my bluetooth since I bought my phone and I still get 2+ days of usage after a month.

I could be wrong, but my understanding was that the Lumia 920 *does* support BT 4.0... it's *Microsoft* who has, in their infinite wisdom, decided not to support BT 4.0 from a software side. In other words, the 920 has 4.0, but WP8 won't let you use it.

I had the exact same problem as the OP - whenever I have Bluetooth on the battery drains by 10% per hour or faster. It doesn't matter if my headset (the only device I have listed) is successfully connected or if it is searching for it, the battery still only lasts for 6 to 8 hours tops. When I turn off the Bluetooth battery life is significantly better - it's about 4 hours since I unplugged from the charger and I'm still at 94% after regular use, including about an hour of playing music stored on the phone (not streamed).
So now I'm beginning to wonder if I either have some kind of hardware issue with my phone or if the O/S just gets hung up and is constantly searching/running the Bluetooth even when it should not be.
