I only upgrade when my contract is up, and then sometimes I still don't. Kept my last phone about 5 years. So, if my 920 is still being the beast that it is, I may switch back to Straight Talk, save a little cash and keep rocking it. I always want the newest and the best, but I am logical and understand that what I have is good enough.

If the changes are substantial, and if there are more colours available in my area, aka aluminum-cyan, then I'll save up money for it. !!

Bought mine off contract so not got that restriction. However, I would like to get a couple of years use out of it.

I will be sticking with my 920 unless the differences are so monumental that I have no choice but to upgrade lol. I am thinking the biggest improvements will be in the software which I will see on my 920 anyway so I doubt I will be changing handsets anytime soon :)

Off contract right now, waiting for the (Verizon) 928 next month or it will be an an HTC 8X, no 920 option through Verizon. Was going to look at the BB Z10 and maybe the new iOS, but that would be same old same old.

Will Hang around untill contract is due till Dec 2014 for a upgrade ...........but would consider getting the new one if it is the NEXT BING THING.........

but 920 is tough enough to bear physical abuse for 2 years

My upgrade is now ready and waiting.. Assuming ATT gets a new Nokia that is > L920, I'll be there on release day.

Great to see so many replies all in favour of holding onto it, I agree it's got a few years in it before it gets 'old'. I love my Lumia and am glad I took the chance on the 'underdog'. Got to say, the support on this forum makes it a better all round experience

It all depends what the next big release is, but I'd venture a guess that I'll be happy enough to keep the L920 at least until the end of my ATT contract. If a Surface Phone comes out and it is on par with the tablets, I'd consider getting a new line and having both phones.

My HTC trophy has a cracked screen, vertical/horizontal motion detector died, buttons are failing, battery drain is getting worse and the speed of the phone processor is detoriorating. I am off contract. This phantom 928 better be real and come out in hopefully two to three weeks. I plan on buying the new KING at full price to keep my unlimited data plan.

Just interested to know how many will move onto the next new Windows (or other platform) phone, and who will be sticking with the Lumia for the length of a contract? I've got mine til I can upgrade in December 2014. Don't see me shelling out for a new handset within my current contract. Although I will be jealous when the next one has a brilliant camera :P
Rollover to newest hardware when I am able to upgrade. That's about the effective technology lifespan of a device anyway.

Given that opening this phone is a breeze, I will probably stick with it until WP10 comes out. Hopefully by the time the battery starts to fail, there may be extended batteries.

I bought mine outright so I can upgrade at any time but hopefully Nokia and Microsoft can keep me happy with it for around 2 years. We get 2 year warranty in Australia from Nokia and I've got a few things that could warrant getting fixed already so maybe once they stop making these 920s I'll send it in and hope for a new replacement or atleast a nice refurbished one.

Probably going to keep my phone for around 2 or so more years, and get the next Nokia Lumia flagship then. Right now, I have absolutely NO need to upgrade, and am happy that I chose the underdog, or not well known phone. This is awesome when people that I don't even know compliment and marvel at it. But, back to the topic. Seriously, I LOVE my Lumia 920, and the whole thing about phones is that they KEEP UPDATING. If you are happy with your phone like I am, I wouldn't dream of replacing it. Now breaking it, (probably won't happen with this tank of a phone), is a different story!!

I have a bad habit of having to have the latest device in the technologies I'm devoted/loyal to. So, I will be getting the next high end Lumia, and the one after that, and the one after that. The outcome of this is buying a new phone every 6-8 months. The only exception has been the HD7, which I had from launch until the date the 900 was released. When HTC was releasing the Touch line, I was getting a new phone often, very often.

Is a quadcore Snapdragon 600, HD video, 4.8" screen and a closer to Pureview camera enough to make you switch?

Probably buy the 7" tablet instead

only problem i have is dust gathering on the front camera & slowly it is affecting the light sensor too, my screen brightness is fluctuating a lot lately, other than this it is great phone.

100% sticking to Lumia 920 - it is superb (would be perfect with better battery life). In 2yrs when I upgrade I will get the next Lumia. Nokia just make quality phones. Cant wait for the Nokia tablet too!
