Audiobook player that plays mp3's on phone (not from Skydrive) and remembers location

Load them as podcasts. Was very easy with Zune, but we lost that functionality with WP8. I have not got a chance to use the Sync tool launched today, however, it mentions that custom podcast support is back.
Built-in podcast is the only player that effectively remembers the play positions and works very well for audiobooks.

Expanded podcast support. Support for iTunes podcasts has been a useful feature in the preview versions of the app, but many people get their podcasts from other sources. Now, as long as your podcasts are saved in a folder, you can automatically sync them to your phone.

This is true but I've just experienced an issue with this scenario. If you're syncing your podcasts with the desktop application, you can't get podcasts from the store.

As much as this solution sucks, this is the best one I have found to date: Search results for "lindyaudio" | Windows Phone (United States)

The only real issues I have with it are:

1. You can ONLY load books by downloading them from dropbox (not stream, but download)
2. WP7 app that just happens to work on WP8 so you can't navigate away from the app without it stopping (so no text messaging or emails while listening, you have to stop and go do your things and go back)

Man, what I would give for a true WP8 App. I'd buy that thing all day long.
