Alright...I'm a die-hard WP fan...and an even bigger Nokia fan...still living with good-ol Symbian ( 5800 XpressMusic .. yeah, say what you want...this phone has loyally served me for 4 years!! )
And now its about time I come over to the light side..

I want to go for the 920 or the 720 ..the lowest price for an unlocked 920 is close to $420 on ebay, while the 720 is going for around $320-$340...
Clearly , both have their pros - 1GB RAM, OIS for the 920... A slim profile for the 720, with a good camera to boot..and a good 100$ cheaper too..

What has me up in knots is the build/reliability/battery life issues for the 920...especially with a lot of threads of an older batch of 920's .. would really like to avoid the the hassle of replacing defective handsets..
The 720 should meet my needs for the most part..but the 512 MB RAM lowers the future-proof value slightly...AND the 920 is REALLY good to pass up at this price!!

Thoughts??

In my opinion, do you use very frequently your camera? if so, you shall go for lumia 920, if not, 720 may attend you, and remember, if you're going to use heavy apps you should choose l920 as well, 720 would probably use more effort to run heavy apps (512mb vs 1gb)

Most part of l920 battery draining are related to LTE service, which seems to drain much more battery than 3g, the better way to choose between them is for you to test them both, depends on your use, if not too much, 720 can easily attend to your demands =)

I have never held or played with the 720 and I'm sure it is a great device in its own right but I have had my L920 since launch day in the US and I can honestly say it is the best cell phone I have ever had. I'm looking forward to the future updates coming for this device.

Like u said they both have their pros n cons! I own a 820 &620 n they've both been outstanding. I thought about getting the 720 b4 it launched but I'm sooo glad I went with the 820! Have u considered the 820?? SD card, 1gig of RAM, removable battery, yeah the battery life isn't the best but u can always carry a spare! Also have u considered a 925??

I bought a 920. I think you should get the best you can. why settle for 720 if you can get and enjoy a 920. You should be able to get a 920 for 350 dollars. I mean the ATT one.

I haven't considered the 820...don't like the looks as much..
I DO like the 925..combines the best of both the 920 and the 720...waiting for the release is a tease though! Not too optimistic on the price either - not sure if its worth paying maybe 100-200 more for what the 920 already provides..

You made a good point there ...I'm into photography quite a lot - makes the 920 a much better option..
Mostly concerned about the build issues to be honest - maybe its just because the forum is skewed towards folks with problems...A friend of mine got a white 920 from AT&T on contract as well..
He's had some issues with the screen and body developing scratches within a month- something he didn't experience in over a year with the Lumia 800..

I bought my 920 about 5 months ago on ebay for $365.00 brand new in box. I have had a few minor issues which have been solved with a turn off and restart. I suspect that the majority of 920 devices are like mine working well without anything but minor glitches. The reason why there are posts from people with issues are because they are having issues which they are looking for help which many of us are willing to try and assist in solving. . I am very satisfied with the 920 and would recommend it highly to you.

Some say the initial units of l920 had some problems, but, for what I've seen (at least lately) this cellphone is really a tank, reviewers says easily that is the thoughest smarthpone outhere, I had only happiness with it (have a 920) and have dropped from all places (I'm very disastrous lol) and it only took a few scratches (only visible to direct sunlight), I'm loving it =)

if you can, I believe you won't die for 100 dollars, and as you said, you use the camera pretty often, I would go for L920, always the best =)

I have both the 920 and the 720... both are brilliant.
If you are not too demanding on photography and gaming, take the 720. That said, it does take very decent pictures. And the battery life keeps on going and going... very outstanding.

I've had both and prefer my Lumia 720 because it's thinner, lighter, and the battery literally lasts twice as long. Having said that, the Lumia 920 has a noticeably superior screen, camera and slightly faster app loading speeds, so it depends on what factors you consider most important. Both are great devices, so you will be buying a great phone either way.

I have the 810 & 720. The 810 camera is borderline unacceptable. The camera capabilities are out of place for mid-high range Lumia devices. Count it out if you take many pictures.

The 720 actually takes respectable low light images.
