I'm planning to switch to WP8 (from Android), and decided to go with Nokia but can't decide if I should get the 920 or 925.
I will be buying sim-free, I can get the 920 for about ?290 or the 925 is about ?450.

Obviously the 920 has the lead at the moment as it's over ?150 cheaper but is the 925 worth the extra?
I know apart from the screen tech, size/weight, material and camera they're the same phone.

The size, weight and material don't both me, it's just the screen and camera.
I have a DSLR I take out with me if I'm going out for the day, but use my phone for general day-to-day photos so I do wan't a good camera on it.
As for the screen, is it a big difference between the IPS and AMOLED?

Is there any difference in battery life or general performance between the two?

Also now that the 1020 is coming soon, do you think the 92* series will drop in price, or will the 1020 just be priced higher?

920 - LCD - naturally looking colours, 60 FPS, burn-out proof (suitable for night-+stand-+clock apps), 5 lens, Qi charging
925 - AMOLED - popping colors, energy saving, true black, higher contrast - 6 lens

if the design and materials don't bother you it's really a choice between a better display (IMO) or 6th lens for the camera and since You don't care about camera I'd go for the 920

edit: 920's price is already dropped, 925 is not even fully out yet, expect no drops there...

I was also considering these two devices, but ultimately went with the 920 since it was considerably cheaper and had wireless charging integrated. I can't say too much with regards to comparisons bewtween the two devices, but I can say the 920 is a very solid device at that price point. Performance is buttery smooth (even coming from WP7.8 with my Lumia 800) and battery is average. I can get a solid days use with some to spare (with typical usage such as multiple emails synced, whatsapp, calls etc).

I'm not too sure if 920 will go down even more just yet. Since I haven't seen the lower model prices reduced too much. The 920 is not that much more expensive than the 820 right now. I also don't think the 925 will go down anytime soon either since it's relatively new.

Thanks that was the answer I (or rather my bank account) was hoping for.
Didn't think they'd come down in price either but didn't want to spend the money now to see them quite a bit cheaper in a few weeks
Now to convince the other half I need a new phone...

I was waiting for the 1020 announcement but it's looking as though it will be released in September at the earliest so I had the same thought, 920 or 925. The camera is important to me (hence why I wanted the 1020) and I know the 925 and 1020 are better but considering the price and wireless charging the 920 is good enough on the photo front and I can always wait for the quad core phones that should be able to handle the photo processing better.

Battery life fluctuates on the 920 (for me). Some days it'll last all day. Other days, it's dead hours after being fully charged. I'm not sure if the 925 fixes that problem, but if the battery life is a key concern (and if it's a lot better than the 920), I would get the 925. Or in the end, save money and get a good 920 :)
