Flashing China Lumia 920 RM-822 to different firmware

Got my hands on a Lumia 920 (model code RM-822) from China as a gift, now I can't access any store other than the China store and I can't download apps like Skype. Doing a hard reset and changing regions, changing my Live account settings all don't work - the firmware itself is locked to the China store, probably due to Party requirements

Has anyone flashed a RM-820 or RM-821 ROM to this RM-822 model? I assume the GSM hardware is the same, only difference is in the LTE bands.

I assume you can download the VN (Vietnam) variants over NCS and flash them to get unrestricted store access?

I would not flash 822 to any other than 822. Did you try to download the Firmware via NCS? Didnt work for me lately, since they restricted access.
