Problems hearing person on the other end of the phone

I have had a Nokia Lumia 920 since October 1st. When I take a call I can hear the person I'm speaking to fine but then its as if the volume goes down really low and i can't hear them. This will last for a number of minutes then I'll hear them fine again and it will carry on like this for the whole call.

Anyone any ideas for a fix?

Make sure it up to date and see if you can update to GDR3 by going to setting > about then update and try a soft reset.

you sure the phone isn't moving from your earhole as you speak and phone sliding down? what happens on speaker phone? Bluetooth?

Well in my case, the problem is the opposite. I too own a Lumia 920 bought when first launched in India. So I believe it is from the first manufacturing batch.
In my case, the person at the other end of the phone cannot hear me clearly. The moment I hold my phone to the bottom, they say that they can hear me clearly.
It is a hardware bug, and needs a service from Nokia - that's what I read on some other thread on this forum.
The Nokia service in India sucks, that's why I prefer using my phone this way, by holding the phone in a different way (though it's uncomfortable)
