What happens when you block someone's number?

When I block a number using the call+SMS filter, what happens when someone on the block list tries to call/text me?
Does the person that tries to call me here a recording tell them they are blocked or does it just go straight to voice mail?
What about for texts?

They will hear something like
Welcome to Verizon, AT&T, T Mobile etc. Wireless, the number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call.
It won't go to voicemail because they are blocked from contacting you.
For texts just an error message saying it can't be completed or sent.
I don't think you will receive any notices either for calls or texts that were blocked.

Actually, in settings you can choose if you want to be notified when a call or text has been blocked.

And, it does go straight to the voicemail without ringing your phone.

So those you want to block can't talk to you, but they can leave you nasty messages ?
I don't think so at least not with Verizon -what they told me.

I have T-mobile it does not go to your voice mail. They get a recording as the person above stated. They also can not text you! It want go through!:wink:

Yes but picture messages will still come through, and long rant text will get through as there turned into mms after a certain amount of characters

I wish it didnt go to voiecmail and was actually blocked. I can delete the voicemails without listening to them but it still gives me the voicemail beep and I have to take steps to deal with robots/people I dont want to deal with. One of the few things I miss about Android is the fantstic call blocking app I had.

It depends, I've seen a long winded text come through as mms lots of times, I do think it has to do with what carriers the person is sending from, but yes any form of mms will get past the block.
