Music volume with earphones/earbuds

Does anyone else find the volume can be quite high even at 1/30? I dont find it too loud but I would expect there to be lower volume levels available.

I guess I think the same.

Recently I've test driven a Blackberry and its volume floor is much lower than my 920's. Isn't a dealbreaker, nor is the 920 dangerous to my hearing (I mean it isn't making me deaf after every listening session) but I rarely have to go past 1/30 in most situations and songs.

Not here. Depending upon background noise, I have mine between 12 and 16, and I don't like it loud.
