920 usb port not working

can't able to charge my phone and it doesn't connect with my laptop either so my phone turned off. I'm thinking to buy wireless charger
would it charge my phone? would it work if you were completely out of battery?

USB port on my 820 failed recently but able to charge wirelessly. While I contemplate the hassle of sending it off to be fixed what is the best way of transferring ad hoc data between the phone and my laptop? Bluetooth and Onedrive are so slow.

The USB port on the 920 is part of the back cover. The good news is that makes it pretty easy to replace. If you need help, I can walk you through it. Basically, two T5 torx screws to take the cover off, then one plug connector that attaches the USB to the main board.

Not sure how much backs cost, but it's a 10 minute repair.
