The lumina 920 cell phone has a built in battery. Is there a way to replace it?

Yes. There are two small screws in the bottom that have to be removed with a special screwdriver. And you have to take out the SIM card first. Then you just have to pop off the back. Be careful, there is a connector to the wireless charging pad. The battery pops right out. There should be a YouTube video that shows the process.

yes, I followed the guidelines from here https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nokia+L...lacement/33184

but! be aware, the battery replacement might not be the best solution. I replaced mine and my L920 still has battery issues.
