Why doesn't the power button wake up my phone on my Lumia 920?

power button does not wake phone up on lumia 920

I have a lumia 920. The power button does not put the phone to sleep or wake it up. The power button can shut down the phone and can be used to take screen captures. When i shut down the phone, the phone restarts without me pushing the power button again.

any thoughts?

The one time I had the power button not working properly but still working, I had to reset the phone and effectively reinstall the OS and that made it work. That's the next thing and support group will suggest too. Do a backup and save all photos etc and try settings/about/reset.
