Hey guys - Long time WP user here but I got into a rough situation the other day and needed a specific app (it ended up causing my partner and I more stress than necessary (as he also has a WP Phone)) and have decided to get an Android Phone to have alongside my Lumia 925.

I am going with the Moto X Pure (so pure Andriod and no bloatware), but I essentially want to replace as much or all of the google services with Microsoft equivalents, as i am a big Outlook/Office 365, One Drive person (and after being on here for a couple of years (if only reading) steer clear of Google).

Any advice or things I might forget or need to do. Excited about replacing Google Now with Cortana, and some other basics but wanted to get y'all's input!

If interested the app was the Plug Share App because I needed to pay to charge my electric car in a location I wasn't familiar with and we were unable to and ended up having to drive 20 min out of the way and then take Uber to and from the station because we were attending a Wedding. I will take part of the blame due to poor planning but the charger was like "Pay with the App" and neither of us could get the app! It was a rough evening! And yes I have the 3rd party version of the app but the Pay Feature was not in it!

Android makes it really easy to set up whatever apps you want as defaults except for a couple of core apps, like the dialer. For my work phone I currently use Outlook, Excel, Word. Cortana can be set up as you said. It all runs fairly seamlessly so I think you'll probably be happy with it. Microsoft is continuing to bring over more apps and services, which I think many on Android appreciate.

Yes as AD said, the Microsoft experience on Android is very good. You might even find some advantages, depending on how much and which Microsoft services you use.

My personal favorite is 2 factor authentication, which I use since I work for a Microsoft partner. Instead of typing in the code you receive by text, on Microsoft's authenticator Android app you only have to tap an Approve (or Deny) button. And if you have an Android Wear smartwatch, you can even tap the Approve button on there!

I use that app too. It is so convenient.

I microsofted my HTC android as well. The MS apps on android are better than on Windows phone. I disabled Google play services and all the pre-installed Google apps at first. Using Amazon for the app store. Which worked fine and gave great battery life. The limited app selection on Amazon negates going android though so I went back to using Google services.
