Going to upgrade within a few days and I'm putting it down to a few choices, the z30, the Drois Maxx and the Lumia 928. Would still recommend a 928 to someone? WP has all my essential apps so its a non issue for me now, so as a phone to carry for another year, would you recommend it?

Yep. Still an excellent device that will be supported for another year to year and a half. It is, to date, the best WP8 on Big Red. I would pick it up in a heartbeat if I needed a quick decision.

I am also very amused with the Z30 and BB10. Like most, BlackBerry's future is still iffy enough for me that I have scratched them off my list, thouh. Sad, because that is a nice, nice device and BB10 is a fun, smooth OS.

I have had very little experience with the Droid Maxx.

At the price it's currently at, it's definitely a good buy. There will be another Lumia to come out sometime in the next few months on Verizon. But the 928 is a great phone at a great price.

Battery is ok. Turning vibration off helps. Lumia 920 is still a great option

The phone is great I love it. The battery last a full day 90% or the time. I unplug my phone at 6 am and back in at 9ish pm. Works great!

If you're at all interested in the WP8 ecosystem, and it sounds like you are, you're in for a treat with the 928. It's got an AMOLED screen with Nokia's ClearBlack technology, meaning you won't be able to tell the difference between the bezel and the screen when it's showing dark or black, which is WP8 is fairly often. The nature of AMOLED means you're getting slightly better battery efficiency from the phone, which already has a battery that'll last you well through a day with medium to heavy use. Now is the perfect time to make the leap and see if WP8 suits you, especially if all the apps you're likely to use are already on WP8.

I'd say yes and no. Yes it is a very good phone. Battery life is amazing for me. One of the reasons I switched from Android (Samsung S3) was how I now didn't have to carry extra batteries around with me - with the same usage I used to go through 3 batteries a day. The 928 gets me through the whole day with battery left.

On the "no" side, you'd have to consider that a new phone 929 is going to be released in a very short period of time. One that has today's specs not last years (not a killer issue for me as the 928 runs great). The new phone should have a better screen that may be important to some.

    Good luck

We don't know for sure. Hopefully mid to end of December. I'm crossing my fingers for an announcement this week. As I have been doing for the last month...

The 920, 1020 or any other unlocked GSM device cannot be used with Verizon.

Out of the three phones you mentioned, definitely the 928. BB10 feels super unfinished and the z30 hardware isn't anything special, and the Droid is just an ugly phone that I have seen much performance issues with. The phone is always coming in to Geek Squad to be exchanged for problems regarding battery, freezing/locking, and just for being ugly lol. 928 does have it's problems though, with the current software available for it, it does occasionally lock up (once a week is probably a good average) but when it doesn't completely lock up, performance on the device is incredible. But the 929 should arrive shortly. If you don't hear anything about the 929 by December 6th, I think its safe to say we are looking at a 2014 release. Take with a grain of salt, these are only my personal opinions.
